All WIX pupils have a minimum 2 hours curriculum PE per week, with additional time provided through pre-school, break, and lunchtime activities.

We encourage and promote healthy eating, walking to school, the use of bikes and scooters and have several healthy eating and cycling events throughout the year run by school staff.

PE Delivery is shared between a dedicated PE Coordinator (Michael Brown: Ex-GB International Athlete Uka level 2 Coach; FA ; LTA Affiliated) the Class Teacher and external Sports Professionals.

Extra curricular Activities include: 

  • An introduction to Martial Arts;
  • Cycling Club;
  • Ks2 Multi-sports Club (covering Tennis Basketball Cricket Hockey Gymnastics Skittles) 
  • Girls football, 
  • KS1 Multi-sports club 
  • Mixed football & Dance

All extra curricular activities are delivered via pre school/Breakfast Lunchtime and after school clubs. The School currently has links with Surrey Cricket, Lifetime Tennis, The LTA, FA via BedHead and UKA, all of whom have delivered curricular, extra-curricular and taster sessions at the School.

The children have participated in the following inter school events:

  • Panathlon 
  • X country 
  • 5-a-side football 
  • Kwik cricket events (c/o Spencer Lawn Tennis club & The Kia Oval)

We've had a visit from GB international athlete Nathan Fox (c/o Sport in Schools) and in turn have been following his season via his twitter page and the British Athletics website.

Our curriculum PE  covers the following sports & activities throughout the school year.

KS1 primarily work on core skills:

Agility balance & coordination through games using individual pair & group activity. Travelling in sport followed by
rolling, throwing catching & striking.

They then apply those skills in the following sports:

  • Gymnastics
  • Football
  • Cricket
  • Sportshall Athletics activities (Run Jump throw)
  • Ten pin Bowling and
  • Mini Tennis

KS2 As well as working on core skills: agility, balance, and coordination.

We ensure  they understand teamwork Fair Play & sportsmanship.
Their lessons have been built around the Wandsworth School Games timetable and has covered the following sports: 

  • Cross country 
  • Swimming (external venue)
  • Gymnastics 
  • SportsHall Athletics events 
  • Tennis 
  • Hockey 
  • Indoor cricket 
  • Kwik cricket (Super 8's)
  • Football

Which is all inclusive and includes parent/guardian and teacher participation!!

Our Goals for 2015/16 are

  1. Increase the amount of physical activity across the whole school
  2. Increase the amount of Inter school competition via Wandsworth Sports unit; School Games activities and local schools. 
  3. Share and increase the knowledge and sporting skills of our multi talented teaching staff.
