World Book Day Week 2016

WIX is seeing a lot of activities this week, all part of the yearly World Book Day celebrations. For your diary:
Wednesday 24th February – Tuesday 1st March – BOOK FAIR every day after school in the playground. The children can use their World Book Day vouchers toward purchases of £2.99 and more.
Tuesday 1st March – The Writing on the Wall presented by Quantum Theatre (KS1 and KS2 Whole School: English, Bilingual and Lycée Classes).
This play is written to support the 'writing' sections on 'composition' and 'vocabulary, grammar and punctuation', The Writing on the Wall has two versions for either Y1 - 3 or Y4 - 6.The Y1 – 3 version focusses on The Gruffalo and looks at planning a composition, punctuating sentences and expanding written vocabulary. The Y 4 - 6 version explores Harry Potter and how to create settings, build character and plot, organise paragraphs, punctuate direct speech and use conjunctions, pronouns, adjectives and adverbs.
Wednesday 2nd March – Faustin Charles, author of ‘The Selfish Crocodile’ talking about his books. Children can bring £5 to school and have the opportunity to purchase a signed copy of the book. He will do workshops/assemblies in the lower hall (EYFS, KS1 and KS2 English and Bilingual Classes)
Wednesday 2nd March - Book Character Dress Up Day – come to school dressed as a book character (Whole school: English, Bilingual and Lycée Classes
Friday 4th March – Nico Russell – author of ‘Nana’s Knickers’ visits WIX - Dinner Hall (EYFS and KS1 English and Bilingual Classes).
Children can bring £6 to school and have the opportunity to purchase a signed copy of the book. To be held in classrooms.
