External Safeguarding Audit
May 03, 2017
Dear Parents and Carers,
External Safeguarding Audit
You will be aware that Ofsted placed Wix into Special Measures in September, predominantly because the safeguarding policies, systems and processes in the school were not adequate last year.
Since that time, we have worked hard to ensure that not only are our policies up to date and available on our school website, but they are built into our daily approach and practice as a school.
We were visited last week by an Ofsted-trained safeguarding specialist. She reviewed the current child protection and safeguarding provision within the school and I am very pleased to report that she was impressed with what she saw. Her informal feedback was that the safety, safeguarding and behavioural policies we have created are clear, that as a body of staff we know them and use them, that we have created a safe environment for the children and that the children understand very well what issues they should be aware of and whom they can turn to if they have a concern.
Thank you to all stakeholders - the staff, our colleagues in Ecole de Wix, governors, parents and children - for working hard to establish strong, consistent, acceptable practices over the course of this year.
Please be assured that we will not relax our vigilance as a result of this informal, good finding. However, it is reassuring to receive external, professional reassurance that the children at Wix are safe and well cared for.
Once the report is published, we will post it on the school website.
Yours sincerely,
Rebecca Osuntokun
Acting Head Teacher
